We love a good meaty steak, and whether the steaks are beef or pork, anything on the grill is super flavorful and extra delicious. This Grilled Ham Steak recipe gets a brown sugar glaze that puts it over the top! Easy and delish, you’re going to love this quick meal!
Cooking ham on the grill is super fast because it’s already cooked – all you’re doing is heating it and adding some extra smoke and grill flavor. And this easy meal can be made in two parts, so you can cut down on prep time by making the glaze ahead of time and having it ready to go. Perfect for busy weeknights for a quick dinner.
WHAT’S A HAM STEAK?
Cut from a whole ham, ham steaks are thicker slices of ham. You can get a boneless or bone-in ham steak – either will work for this recipe.
Fresh ham steaks are a great choice when you’re craving ham but don’t want to deal with a whole ham roast. Where to find pre-cooked ham steaks? They’re sold in any local grocery store wherever you’d find hams.
You can also cut your own ham steaks by buying a boneless ham and slicing steaks off of it. Pop the rest of the ham into the freezer for a ham casserole, cheddar cauliflower ham soup, maple glazed ham steaks, southern cola ham steak, and more.
Ingredients
The glaze in this recipe is optional but highly suggested! Sure, you can grill a ham steak and eat it, but the savory-sweet and delish glaze puts this ham steak recipe over the top! The glaze makes enough for 2 ham steaks, so double or triple the glaze ingredients if you’re grilling more than that.
- Ham steaks – About 1/2 pound per person
- Brown sugar – You can also use pure maple syrup.
- Mustard – Any mustard will do. Dijon mustard is a great option.
- Cayenne pepper – Gives the glaze a bit of heat.
- Dried sage
- Dried rosemary
- Salt and pepper
